Chad

Most foreign travelers require an advance visa or eVisa to enter Chad, with passports valid for at least six months. Visitors staying more than 72 hours must also register with the National Police.

A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required for entry from transmission risk countries (and often checked at port of entry), and polio boosters are strongly advised.

Customs regulations are strict regarding the import of electronics and professional equipment. Declare all items upon arrival.

Driving is on the right. Roads are often unpaved and in poor condition; 4x4 vehicles are necessary for travel outside the capital. Temporary vehicle import requires a Carnet de Passages en Douane. Ensure you have all necessary permits for the regions you intend to visit.

SIM cards are available from Airtel and Tigo. Coverage is limited to urban centers.

Exercise extreme caution due to the threat of terrorism and kidnapping. Avoid all travel to border regions.
