Observations on walking through the busy streets of Cairo safely

I have been walking around downtown Cairo for the last few days and honestly, it is perfectly safe if you stay aware of your surroundings. The traffic is chaotic, but I found that moving confidently and sticking to well-lit areas near Tahrir Square kept me from feeling overwhelmed. Just keep your bag in front of you in crowded markets, and you will have a fantastic time exploring these historic streets.
